When you buy your ticket, you choose a City and a Faction within that City. Think of this as your starting point or team. Your City gives you a shared culture and a group of people you already belong with when the weekend begins. It is also your team for the larger resource competition. Your Faction gives you another layer of relationships, loyalties, and problems to inherit. Everyone is still at the same event, playing in the same world. You are just starting from a different corner of it. Each City has three Faction Leaders that help organize attendees, keep things in character, and helps make everyone’s experience more engaging and fun.

You will also bring a second costume for your Zombie Persona. Yes, your zombie persona. Basically a corpse fursona with more rot, worse skin, and considerably less fur. For part of the weekend, you join a huge portion of the event as the undead threat so other players can face something that actually looks and feels like a horde. Later, they return the favor. So if event has 300 people, that is 150+ zombies all at once. Nice.

There are rules, but the goal is not to make you spend the weekend thinking about rules. Your Professions help describe what they know how to do by letting you pick up little game-changers (red envelopes and stickers) that let you do something cool because of your profession. Your City and Faction give you people and stories to start with and an excuse to open conversations with strangers. Most of the mechanics are mostly meta-tools to help people engage each other safely and navigate layering the fictional world into the experience.

Wasteland Chronicle is a weekend long immersive event where you step into the world as a fictional persona we call your Survivor. Your Survivor can be as simple or as complicated as you want. Give them a name, a look, a little attitude, and enough of a reason to exist in the wasteland. The rest can happen while you play.

Wasteland Chronicle is a 21+ event. At a set time each night, combat ends and the site shifts into adult social hours, which means you can drink while staying in character and enjoying the entertainment, parties, and general wasteland nonsense. Once drinking starts, there is no more combat for the night. You are an adult and we expect you to, well, be an adult about it. If you overdo it, staff or your Faction leadership may send you to bed with water, and if you become a problem your drinking (or attendance) privileges may be removed. Pace yourself. You still have to wake up in the morning and survive the next day, so do not turn your entire weekend into a hangover with a costume.
